To Goth or Not to Goth
by Gabrielle (gothichaven)

current mood: Whistful

That...dear readers is the question.. I have for a long time been labelled by the general community.. either "ooh she's a goth" .. "ooh she's a witch" and amusingly once.." Are you in a play?".. these days I seem to have blended into the background in jeans! ( albeit with pirate skull on rear pocket) and the customery dreads ( strawberry blonde instead of black) and I find myself yearing already for the longer days and a change to get back to my old self again.. but the more I don't dress up the more I feel a little self concious when I do.. I have a wardrobe full to bursting with corsets and bustle skirts.. victorian repro outfits.. hats and more french jet than you can shake a stick at.. at work I used to look like this almost every day and not more than 3 weeks ago at Kensall Green I worethis and if you saw me today you would be shocked that I had let myself go and become one of the masses...I will endeavour to keep this journal bright and sparkling with wit and wisdom (what little I have) and to encourage you all to share your inner goth/aesthetic/victorian/edwardian desires..

Yes I realsie this is a lot of old twaddly ramble but sheeesh I hate my job and I am so so bored

Second poll, after a false start
by Cathy Hay (peacockdress)
at May 22nd, 2007 (01:06 pm)

Thank you very much for answering the poll yesterday - it got over 150 replies - and thank you for all the extra comments. And because you know you love answering polls, I've got three more questions. If you checked the "work clothes" option, this baby's for you. It's also for you if you read the following and think, hey, this applies to me too!

I'm sorry if you answered the version that was up briefly this morning; I messed it up such that it wouldn't even let me see the results, so I've rewritten it. Would you also take a moment to answer again?

A scenario and three questions...Collapse )

May I pick your brains, Madam?

Poll #988812 Vic-Goth fashion needs

Where do you get most of your Victorian/Gothic clothing?

I buy from Gothic designers; I might do a bit of customising too
I'm pretty creative; I tend to customise stuff I buy
I make some of my own, but buy or customise to get the more complex stuff
No problem, I make all my own

What type of Victorian/Gothic clothing do you most wish you could buy?

Work clothing - Stylish and gothic and yet smart and appropriate for work. Can't I look Victorian/Gothic AND promote-able?
Different clothing - Victorian/Gothic clothing can be so samey. Don't you designers have any new/alternative ideas?
Comfortable clothing - I want to look and feel just as fabulous at home, or on an informal night out, as I do in full corsetted costume.
Good quality clothing - You know, I might actually be prepared to pay a little more if someone would produce something of a proper designer quality.

Feel free to add commments if you want to say more!

current mood: excited

Hello all.... did you think I had deserted you? no not I.. I have been busy sorting and sourcing stock for theis WGW.. I have decided to concentrate on what I am known best for which is CORSETS.. and do I have some stunning items this year.. Brocades, satins, patterns, gorgeous new fabrics (hopefully) never seen at WGW before all unique and one-off's so you can be sure of no awkward "costume Clashing" moments.. ranging in sizes 20" to 40" there is something for everyone. Also there will be clearance items galaore as I want to get rid of the rest of my clothes before the re-launch of the site. Look out for the NEW BANNER downstairs in the Spa. I will also have a fine collection of vintage Top Hats and accessories. Please come and say hello if you know me and if you don't come and say Hi anyway as we are very friendly. I am once again sharing my stall with the lovely and lucious littlepinkfaery purveyor of wonderful hand dressed wigs and hand made falls and dread bands. We look forward to welcoming customers old and new.
